A fantastic Sunday to start my new entry for year 2006

Date today: 12th March 2006, Sunday.

Event: Disney on Ice

100 Years of Magic

Today is a very special day for me.. as this is my first time going to watch Disney on Ice..I have always wanted to watch Disney on Ice everytime it comes to Singapore but I have never ever got the chance o do so.. but today.. kevin surprised me by waking me up and driving me towards Kallang and handing me the tickets for the Disney on Ice at one of the traffic junctions.. I was naturally delighted and excited at the prospect of seeing ice skating and best of all.. Disney on Ice... it was like a dream coming true.. We went to have KFC drive through for lunch before hitting the Indoor Stadium.. Our show was scheduled to be at 3.30pm..

When we reached the stadium... i realised that the demographics of the crowd are more of "Ang Mos" and their families and of young parents who are educated with their little ones.. it makes me think.. is that what Disney's target group is?? what happen to for the whole family mentality?? I guess.. for traditional Singaporean families.. i think Disney on ice is an expensive event to bring your kids to.. especially after I found out the prices of their merchandise... We were walking towards the entrance when I saw two gers with popcorn.. so naturally i am like .. so excited and wanted one too.but tat was before I saw the prices.. guess wat?? popcorn costs $6 for a small bag and $12 for a tub... and candy floss with a little crown cost $12 for a bag.. there is even popsicle at $12 a cup too.. and merchandise of the disney characters starting from $23.. well.. tat curb my appetite.. in the end.. i went to get a programme book.. which comes with a beauty and the beast rose.. but which .. gulp... costs $20!!..can you imagine?? $20 for a programme book?? but well.. i tot.. it is worth it for a sovenoir.. and i must say..at the end of the show.. i realise.. most parents are willing to buy the candy floss... popcorn for their kids.. but i guess i will.. if one day i bring my kids there.well.. i do learnt why disney has been so successful over the years.. and why their copyrights cost so much... after all.. I have spent a bomb at Hong Kong DisneyLand when I was there..

so anyway.. back to the show.. the show was simply breathtaking.. we had great seats.. really near..it was 14 rows from the stage.. with the show spilting into two acts.. the first begin of course.. with Mickey and gang.. and the story unfolds with Aladdin and the Genie..

Then we have the very touching story of Beauty and the Beast... the graceful skating, complete with the theme songs from the disney classic moved me.. then there was a display of my favorites.. the disney princess.. from cinderella, to snow white, to Jasmine and Aladdin, to the little mermaid and Pochanotas, it really brought a smile to my face and bring out the child in me.. and seeing all these disney classics skating in front of me really melts my heart..it makes you know wat and how does "happily ever after" means.. after all.. doesn't everyone love fairytale endings?

This was followed by finding nemo.. which i didnt realy enjoy....as the fishes look a tinny fake to me.. Then there was a display of the small world.. rem the song.. its a small small world.. its a small world after all.. its a small world after all.. its a small world after all.. its a small small world.. we have skaters performing dances all over the world.. well.. tat ended the first part..

The 2nd part of the show started with Mickey and gang heading with a band and we see displays of Pinochio, Mulan and the Lion King and the incredibles..and toy story but i didnt really enjoy the 2nd part as much as the first as I am not really a BIG fan of Lion King and the Incredibles.. but the finale was fantastic.. with all the characters coming out and with them.

Well..i loved the whole show.. with the amazing skating performances.. the songs.. the storylines.. the techical effects...it was really memorable and I really look forward to catching it again the next time they come to Singapore.. now it makes me fall in love with Disney again and this love now give me dreams of creating that childlike, dreamy experience to my guests at the end of the year.and of course.. I will be counting my moneys to go to Florida to see Disneyland...
